Lines and Wrinkles

Lines and Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles are common signs of aging that occur as the skin loses elasticity, moisture, and collagen over time.

What causes Lines and Wrinkles?

Sun exposure: UV radiation from the sun damages the skin's collagen and elastin fibers, leading to premature aging and the development of lines, wrinkles, and sunspots.

Smoking: Smoking accelerates the breakdown of collagen and elastin in the skin, leading to premature wrinkling, particularly around the mouth and eyes.

Repetitive facial expressions: Facial movements such as squinting, frowning, or smiling can create lines and wrinkles over time, particularly in areas of frequent muscle activity, such as the forehead, between the eyebrows (frown lines), and around the eyes (crow's feet).

Loss of moisture: Dry skin is more prone to developing fine lines and wrinkles. As we age, the skin's ability to retain moisture decreases, leading to increased dryness and the appearance of wrinkles.

Genetics: Genetic factors can influence how quickly and severely lines and wrinkles develop. Some individuals may be genetically predisposed to develop wrinkles earlier or more prominently than others.
